Saturday shopping

Yesterday after breakfast we went to Mariahilf for shopping and the first stop was Planet Harry.

After that we went to le Pho for lunch and it was quite delicious.

Back home we relaxed a bit before I continued my Coursera course for Ruby on Rails with MongoDB. The deadline for the whole course is at the end of february, the other deadlines are mere guidelines so that you can plan your time accordingly.

In the evening we watched BBC series, since our japanese guest was out to party.

Gestern sind wir nach dem Frühstück nach Mariahilf gefahren und haben den lieben Planet Harry besucht.

Danach sind wir zum le Pho zum Mittagessen gegangen und es war wieder wirklich gut.

Wieder zuhause haben wir uns dann ein wenig hingelegt und ausgeruht, bevor ich den Coursera Kurs zu Ruby on Rails mit MongoDB doch noch weiter gemacht habe. Denn die Deadlin gilt nur für den gesamten Kurs - dieser endet mit Ende Februar - und die anderen sind nur Vorschläge, damit man sich die Zeit richtig einteilt.

Am Abend dann haben wir BBC Serien geschaut, nachdem unser japanische Gast wieder auf Party unterwegs war.

Lunar New Year - finally some time to do it

This friday the training was also very long, so I just came back home and postponed the weekly shopping trip to Mariahilf to today.

My dear had friends over for roleplaying and in the meantime I played a lot of Guild Wars 2 to finally look at all the news things from the Lunar festival.

Am Freitag war der Kurs in der Firma auch so lange, dass ich einfach nur nach Hause gefahren bin und meinen Freitagseinkauf auf heute verschoben habe.

Mein Schatz und ihre Freunde haben wieder bei uns rollengespielt und ich habe mich inzwischen in Guild Wars 2 intensiv mit dem Lunar Festival beschäftigt.

Gugelhupf - a worthy bake for the last day of training?

Yesterday after work and training, I went to Fressnapf for food for our pussy-cat. Back home I found a small group of petitioner for said food, so I quickly fed the cats. After that I went shopping for our own food and I then I "made" Cordon Bleu with potato wedges - all from the deep freezer.

After that I baked - for today being the last day of training - a gugelhupf.

While the sweet bake was in the oven we watched the current episodes of The Flash, Arrow and Galavant - and in the end even tasted the baked good and found it to be very good.

Gestern nach der Arbeit und dem Kurs, bin ich noch schnell zum Fressnapf um Futter für die Mieze-Katze gefahren. Zuhause angekommen wurde ich auch schon von den Katzen belagert und entsprechend um besagtes Futter angebettelt. Nachdem das erledigt war, bin ich noch schnell Abendessen einkaufen gegangen und habe dann für uns Tiefkühl-Cordon-Bleus und Potato Wedges gemacht.

Danach habe ich dann für heute - zum Abschlußtag - noch schnell einen Guglhupf gebacken.

Während die Süßigkeit im Backofen war, haben wir uns dann die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash, Arrow und Galavant angeschaut - und dabei dann auch noch den Guglhupf verkostet und für gut befunden.

Yesterday after work we went out again to meet with other host parents from the AFS. There we could tell our tales but also get some input from the other families.

After that we decided to walk through the inner city and I took some pictures on the way.

Back home we just watched the last episode of Heroes Reborn before it was time for bed.

Gestern waren wir nach der Arbeit gleich wieder unterwegs und zwar zum AFS Elternstammtisch. Dabei konnten wir uns mit anderen Gastfamilien austauschen und haben unser Leid klagen können bzw. auch Rat von anderen Familien bekommen.

Danach haben wir uns entschlossen noch durch das nächtliche Wien zu spazieren und ich habe dabei ein paar Schnappschüsse gemacht.

Wieder zuhause haben wir uns dann noch die letzte Folge von Heroes Reborn angeschaut bevor es ins Bett ging.

Doctor Who's Timetrip

Yesterday, after a much longer training day, I quickly went to my parents for dinner. I got tasty pancakes.

After that I went home and quickly logged through Guild Wars 2 - Lunar festival is back! - and after that we went onto the couch and watched a complete Doctor Who episode from the 70s on BBC. Well, me and pussy-cat slept through most of the episode, but...

Gestern war ich nach einem etwas länger dauernden Kurstag noch schnell bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen. Es gab wieder gute Palatschinken.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort habe ich dann nur mehr schnell durch Guild Wars 2 durchgeloggt - das Lunar Festival hat wieder begonnen! - und wir sind dann auf die Couch gegangen, wo wir uns eine komplette Doctor Who Folge aus den 70er Jahren auf BBC angeschaut haben. Ok, die Katze und ich haben das meiste verschlafen, aber trotzdem...

Cars of the People is here again!

Yesterday was the first day of a stressful week at work with a daily training course. So when I came home I was quite exhausted and just logged through Guild Wars 2 before we went onto the couch for a new episode of James May's Cars of the People.

Gestern war der erste Tag einer anstrengenden Kurswoche in der Arbeit. Daher bin ich zuhause nicht mehr zu viel zu gebrauchen gewesen und nach dem Durchloggen in Guild Wars 2 ging es dann relativ bald auf die Couch zu einer neuen Folge von James May's Cars of the People.

Relaxing? Well not today...

Yesterday was the relaxing day of th week, but since there were still some unanswered questions regarding the future of our japanese guest, there was not much relaxing going on - except for the cats.

Unfortunately the whole stress and time-consuming factor cost me my recently started Coursera course, there wasn't just enough time to do it in one afternoon. I'm very unhappy about that, since I really wanted to do it. I just hope that very soon the whole thing comes to an end.

Gestern war der erholsame Tag der Woche, aber nachdem es immer noch offene Punkte über die weitere Vorgehensweise mit unserem japanischen Gast gegeben hat, hielt sich der Erholungsfaktor sehr in Grenzen - außer für die Katzen.

Leider ist auch mein Coursera Kurs dem Stress und der Mühen der letzten Woche zum Opfer gefallen, es ging sich zeitmäßig an einem Nachmittag einfach nicht mehr aus. Ich bin darüber relativ verärgert, weil ich mich sehr darauf gefreut hatte. Hoffentlich kehrt bald wieder Ruhe in unseren Haushalt ein.

Boardgames!

This saturday we had a boardgame afternoon with friends, but before that we went to shop at Interspar. Well packed we went home and after a quick lunch we were on our way.

Although there was some heavy snowstorms going on we made it safely to our friends and then the fun started.

We began with Mysterium. The game - a mix of Dixit and Cluedo - was well received and I as the ghost was especially pleased the my murderer was revealed and put to justice.

The next game was Survive: Space Attack!. The players try to leave a disintegrating space station and reach the nearby wormholes. It was utter chaos but I think the players liked it.

For relaxation we then played a card game called Stich-Meister. It's a simple game until the rules - that are secretly selected by the players each round - kick in. Then it turns to chaos and we managed to keep our sanity intact. It was fun and almost with an open end as to who won.

Since we already played a card game, we opted to play another with The Game, which we easily quite narrowly won.

At the late hours of the day we then turned to a game which required some skill to play - Flick 'em Up!. Lawkeepers and Outlaws had a stand-off in Dodge City twice and each time the Outlaws were more dexterous.

After that it was time for betrayal and intrigue with The Resistance: Avalon. Although the forces of good were successful, in the end the evil guys managed to single out Merlin and won after all.

Finally we entered the world of spycraft with Spyfall - on a smartphone. The honest people of the circus were good, but the spy - yes, it was me - managed to determine the location and won the day.

Since our japanese guest stayed home and had a party with friends, we were quite unsure as to the state of our flat. But surprisingly there was (almost) nothing wrong with the state of the flat and we were quite surprised.

Am Samstag hatten wir Brettspielnachmittag bei Freunden, aber zuvor waren wir noch beim Interspar einkaufen. Voll bepackt sind wir wieder nach Hause gekommen und nach einem schnellen Mittagessen waren wir schon wieder auf dem Weg.

Trotz relativ heftigem Schneesturm sind wir wohl behalten bei unseren Freunden angekommen und dann ging es auch schon los.

Begonnen haben wir mit Mysterium. Das Spiel - eine Mischung aus Dixit und Cluedo - hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen, vor allem mir weil ich als Geist die Spieler erfolgreich von meinem Mörder in Kenntnis setzen konnte.

Das nächste Spiel am Plan war Survive: Space Attack!. Die Spieler müssen versuchen sich von einer auflösenden Raumstation in nahe gelegene Wurmlöcher in Sicherheit zu bringen. Das Chaos war perfekt, aber ich denke auch hier hatten alle ihren Spaß dabei.

Zur Auflockerung haben wir dann Stich-Meister gespielt. Ein einfaches Kartenspiel mit Stichen, wobei jede Runde andere Regeln gelten die kollektiv aber geheim von den Mitspieler ausgesucht werden. Das war erst ein Chaos, aber sehr witzig und mit relativ offenem Ende wer gewonnen hat.

Da wir schon bei den Kartenspielen waren, haben wir gleich mit The Game weiter gemacht, welches wir souverän relativ knapp gewonnen haben.

Zu später Stunde wurde dann noch unsere Geschicklichkeit getestet mit Flick 'em Up!. Gesetzeshüter und Banditen standen sich zweimal in Dodge City gegenüber und beide Male waren die Banditen erfolgreich - als einfach die besseren Schnipser.

Dann ging es noch mit Verrat und Intrige weiter in The Resistance: Avalon. Obwohl die Mächte des Guten sehr erfolgreich unterwegs waren, haben die Bösen es doch geschafft Merlin zu finden und somit das Spiel zu gewinnen.

Ganz zum Schluss wollten wir dann noch ins Reich der Spione eintauchen mit Spyfall - via Smartphone. Die ehrlichen Zirkusleute waren gut, aber der Spion - ja, ich was das - hat es trotzdem geschafft sein Ziel zu erreichen.

Nachdem unser japanische Gast zuhause geblieben ist und mit Freunden eine Party gefeiert hatte, waren wir nicht sicher in welchem Zustand wir die Wohnung vorfinden würden. Aber es war (fast) alles ok und wir waren entsprechend überrascht.

Fridays with a hint of stress

This friday it was time for the shopping tour in Mariahilf again. First sto was at Aida to buy some sweet delight in the form of chestnut tarts for the Planet Harry team.

Next up was myMuesli for restock.

After that it was Planet Harry time - also for restock.

Then my stay at Planet Harry was cut short, since my dear and our japanese guest were unable to enter our flat and so I was on my way home. While still on my way, they finally managed to get into the flat and so I just quickly shopped for food at Natsu.

Back home everyone was fed and after that we - together with a dear friend - watched a lot of still unseen episodes of Scream Queens. Only two more to go until the season final.

Am Freitag war wieder die Einkaufstour durch Mariahilf. Zunächst war ich bei der Aida um dem Planet Harry Team eine Freude im Form von Maronitörtchen zu machen.

Anschließend war ich bei myMuesli um Nachschub zu besorgen.

Danach ging es zum Planet Harry - auch Nachschub besorgen.

Allerdings war der Besuch nur kurz weil mein Schatz und unser japanische Gast nicht bei der Wohnungstür hineingekommen sind. Als ich schon am Heimweg war, ging es dann plötzlich doch und so bin ich nur noch Essen einkaufen gegangen beim Natsu.

Wieder zuhause wurden alle versorgt und wir haben uns dann - zusammen mit einer lieben Freundin - etliche der noch ausständigen Folgen von Scream Queens angeschaut. Nur mehr zwei Folgen bis zum Finale.
